1. Our commitment
Union Software is committed to providing services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities. We aim to make our public website and core platform workflows usable by union members, representatives, staff, and leaders with a wide range of access needs.
2. Accessibility target
Our current target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. This target also supports the web-content expectations commonly used under Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and U.S. disability-access obligations. Stating a target is not a claim that every page, document, integration, or feature has been independently certified.
3. Measures we take
- Use semantic structure, keyboard-operable controls, visible focus, descriptive labels, and sufficient touch targets in new work.
- Support zoom, text reflow, colour contrast, reduced-motion preferences, and alternatives for meaningful visual content.
- Include accessibility in design, development, testing, procurement, content review, and issue triage.
- Review important workflows at desktop, tablet, and mobile sizes and test core navigation without a pointer.
- Provide accessible formats or communication supports on request where reasonably possible.
- Prioritize issues that block access to account, member-service, casework, communication, payment, or support functions.
4. Known limitations
Some older content, complex data visualizations, generated documents, customer-created content, maps, third-party integrations, or preview features may not yet meet the target in every respect. Customer administrators are responsible for the accessibility of content they create and publish, while we are responsible for accessibility of the platform controls we provide.
If a barrier prevents you from completing a task, tell us what you were trying to do and the technology you were using. We will work with you on an alternative and use the report to guide remediation.
5. Feedback and accommodation requests
Email legal@unionsoftware.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line or write to Union Software, Attention: Accessibility, 190 Norseman St., Suite 100, Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada M8Z 2R4. Please identify the page or workflow, the barrier, your preferred format or support, and how we may contact you. Do not include sensitive union or medical records.
We acknowledge accessibility feedback as soon as reasonably possible and aim to provide a substantive response within 15 business days. More complex fixes may take longer; when they do, we will explain the next step and any available alternative. Feedback can be provided on behalf of another person with their authority.
6. Accessible formats and communication supports
On request, we will consult with the requester and provide public information and feedback processes in an accessible format or with a communication support in a timely manner, at no additional cost beyond any cost normally charged to others, where required by law.
7. Review and accountability
The team responsible for the Union Software website and product owns this policy. We review the statement at least annually and when a material platform or accessibility requirement changes. Internal employment, training, procurement, and multi-year accessibility-plan obligations are maintained separately where applicable.
