Ironworkers
Dispatch structural, reinforcing and ornamental members, and keep high-work issues on the union file.
Ironworker locals dispatch structural, reinforcing, ornamental and welding members onto jobs that start and finish quickly. The hall, not the last contractor, holds the qualification and representation record.
Work is divided among structural connecting, reinforcing (rod), ornamental and miscellaneous steel, welding and apprentice classifications, with calls that depend on a current welding ticket, fall-protection training and related safety tickets.
Members move between signatory contractors and cities on raising-gangs, rod jobs and shutdown steel, so the out-of-work list, travel status and tickets have to stay current at the hall.
Representation on these jobs often involves travel and board, gang composition, overtime on raises, whether a welding ticket matched the procedure, and health and safety on connecting or deck work.

A raising-gang steward shuts a lift down over missing fall protection on a connector.
The safety case attaches the member, contractor and jobsite, and Education shows who on that gang is current on fall-arrest.
The hall will not fill the next raising call for that contractor until the tickets and the site setup are clean.
Communications tells the gang and the next shift; the pattern stays on the contractor file.

Keep dues and any strike-fund activity on the same member records.
Know who is current on the tickets a call actually requires before the dispatcher sends them.
Run the strike vote and see turnout by contractor, ticket and list status.
Turn the same lists into picket and hall-duty assignments if the vote carries.
